PDG William "Bill" Short

You Will Be Missed

Bill was born and raised in Los Angeles, lived in Hawaii and then Modesto.  He attended but didn't complete McGeorge School of Law, University of Pacific.  In nearly 10 years as an investigative reporter at the Record Searchlight in Redding, Bill won several awards.  He did about 20 years all together in radio, TV, and newspapers before he returned to law school at Cal Northern in Chico.  After reviewing his McGeorge experience, Bill graduated cum laude two years later with a Juris Doctorate and passed the bar in 1987.  Bill was a criminal defense lawyer up until his retirement a couple of years ago.  
 
Bill joined the Oroville Sunrise Rotary Club in December of 1997 and served in many positions including president during the 2001-02 Rotary year.  Bill went on to serve District 5180 as an Assistant Governor, Executive Governor and then had the honor of serving as the District Governor for the 2013-14 Rotary year.  Bill's theme for his year as Governor was "Linking Hands and Hearts in Service".  Bill was a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and a major donor to the Rotary Foundation.
 
Bill was happily married to Alma for over 20 years.  Between them, they have six kids and 13 grandkids.  Bill's Rotary accomplishments are too numerous to mention but two that he was especially proud of were his involvement in establishing the Oroville High School Interact Club as well as his leadership in forming the Monday Club Foundation for the ownership and maintenance of the Monday Club building, a clubhouse shared by the Oroville Sunrise Rotary Club, the Oroville Rotary Club and the Monday Club
